 The Licensed Private Investigator believes in the fundamental dignity and individual rights of every human being. They are committed to helping mankind understand themselves and their fellow person. They protect the rights and welfare of every person with whom they have contact. They never use their professional position or relationships, nor do they knowingly permit the services they offer to be used for purposes inconsistent with these values.
While demanding for themself and their profession freedom of inquiry and communication, they accept the responsibility such freedom confers: for competence where they claim it; for objectivity in the reports of their findings; and consideration of the best interests of their colleagues as well as society as a whole.
They place high value on objectivity and integrity, and maintains the highest standards in services they offer. They bear willingly a heavy social responsibility for their work may touch intimately the lives of others. They maintain a high standard of personal and professional competence in the interest of the public and the profession they represent. They recognize the boundaries of their competence and never offers services or techniques beyond their ability, or that fail to meet the standards of their profession. They never willingly cause harm to another.
The Private Investigator always shows responsible regard for the social codes and moral expectations of the community recognizing that violations of such standards will impugn theirname and the reputation of their profession. They never use their association with any professional organization in a manner inconsistent with the stated purposes of these organizations.
They recognize their obligation to report fairly and accurately and avoids at all costs exaggeration, sensationalism, superficiality and any type of misrepresentation. Information received in confidence is only revealed when there exists a clear and imminent danger to any individual or society. They always maintain confidentiality of client communications. They always respect the integrity and protects the welfare of every client.
Financial arrangements with the clients are made with the client’s interests in mind, and they should be willing on occasion to contribute their services in a charitable fashion for which they receive little financial return, but not to the point where they denie themselves an acceptable living.
Finally, the Private Investigator vows to serve to the best of their ability, remaining truthful, respectful and forever dedicated to the inherent values and worth of their fellow and with love, charity and responsibility.
They swear to these precepts and ideals as long as they shall be a member of their profession and a member of mankind.
